it's been another week
i had another relaxing week off from work and now i am back at the ol' grind stone.
i spent most of last week trying to figure out java (the little cup of coffee java). i hit quite a few dead-ends and it means i've got a lot of figuring out to do before i can claim to know much about the subject at all! but i am getting there, hopefully this week at work will help me focus more than i was able to at home.
on the w/end ed and i went to: 1) errol's dad's 60th (claude) bday bash, 2) jaydon's 1st bday (wendy and clint's little one, same day as you vinnie!) and 3) a trance festival.
claude's 60th was very good. a live band in the backyard and plenty of dj's pushing each other off the decks in order to have their turn. we did leave early because we needed to hit the road to gordon's bay quite early the next day... but i tell you what errol is quite the party organiser! i had a blast.
jaydon's 1st bday bash (with his parents friends) was a little affair. we played baseball, practised setting up our new tent and did big people stuff. all the while the baby slept, stood, gurgled and did baby stuff with some extra toys on hand to eat, shake, throw etc.
the trance festival was just past the hugenot tunnel in a valley surrounded by the mountains and a river running through it (does rainbow end ring a bell?). those hippie people sure know how to find the nicest venues. i'm not a fan of trance but discovered that the chill choons in the chill-out area (right on the river might i add) are right up my alley. so in future i will be exploring break-beats, dub and some dj called dj nasty.
the camping part was cool and as first timers, ed and i didn't do too badly. although our tent did blow away on sunday. but thanks to the very friendly hippies, they fetched it and pitched it all again for us while we were away. not 'removing' a single item but instead putting things in strange places to have a laugh at our expressions when we returned to camp. i doubt i'll do a trance festival again though. it's too expensive and i just don't like trance. i'll definitely camp again...
