not again

arrgggh. 5fm has actually gone and done it again! they're changing their line-up and ditching some more of the foundations that made them the best national radio station in sa.

barney simon and derek the bandit are the latest victims, with alex jay and mark pilgrim being some of the initial victims, way back in 2002 and 2003.

mark pilgrim was the saving grace for me after alex jay got axed, even though i only got to hear his show on the odd occassion if i didn't sleep in on w/ends.

i must admit that i vowed to not listen to the station after alex got the boot, but they weren't that bad yet. now i can not say the same though. in my opinion, the music being played and the personalities are far less superior. i'm sick of switching that radio station on to hear yet another horrible r&b / crap pop tune, again!

there is not a single other radio station that could compare to what 5fm was when alex, mark, barney and derek were all part of the line-up.

the only dj's i like on their current line-up are zuraida and kevin fine and as luck would have it, their shows are during times when i am not near a radio or i am sleeping!

so, i better start sorting out the cd's in my car...

update: new line-up mentioned here, nothing about barney and derek getting the boot though.

lmao, yeah that's exactly what they're like. When I listened the other day, there were long moments of silence between one-word conversations about their personal preference of butt cheeks or something... *rolls eyes*

i dread gillman in the mornings. i don't even know why i was listening to him in the first place??? recently they were all screaming over each other to say something like "who's your daddy"... i haven't listened since

Barney is the only DJ I listened to during high school, and Mark Pilgrim occasionally during the dead hours of night. His show is the reason I became interested in R.E.M. and the like.

You're right Sarah, he did tons for SA music. I don't listen to radio at all these days but it would be good to hear 5fm reaffirm their support for SA music.

They should kick out Mark Gillman, his show is dead boring - too much loud mouthed talking and not enough music!

i don't agree adrian. i also think that barney could out-party me anyday. he's helped develop alot of sa bands that wouldn't (and probably won't anymore) have got any airtime on the radio.

i listen to another radio station online, streaming xfm to sa is a pain in the arse, we still have only one telecom company!

Barny is a dinosaur and should have got the boot years ago.

Tune into XFM if you want decent radio. I can't listen to SA radio any more its gone so down hill.
